VMware president Sumit Dhawan discusses the importance of a cloud-smart approach to support the aims of Saudi Vision 2030 during his participation in the event

VMware exhibited at LEAP, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s biggest technology exhibition on 6-9 February, where it showcased the ability of its latest cloud smart, modern apps, and digital employee solutions to help organizations overcome cloud complexity, increase agility, and transform their operations in line with the aims of Saudi Vision 2030.

VMware’s booth in Hall 1 featured three different zones: The Government Zone, Industry Zone and ‘VMware Innovation Center’ from which it held more than 37 technical sessions for customers and partners covering topics around multi-cloud, end-user computing, security, modern applications and data centre modernization. The sessions showed attendees how to accelerate cloud transformation by embracing a ‘cloud smart’ approach over a ‘cloud-first’ approach, giving them the agility to scale up their operations and support modern applications across any cloud, whether sovereign or global.

VMware signed a memorandum of understanding with SCCC Alibaba Cloud with the aim of helping organizations in Saudi Arabia embrace multi-cloud transformation and support digital innovation across sectors including healthcare, education, and government.

VMware executives including global heads Sumit Dhawan, President, and Ricky Cooper, Vice President, Worldwide Commercial & Partner Sales, participated in the event. In addition, Saif Mashat joined regional leaders including Ahmed Auda, Vice President & General Manager, Middle East, Turkey and North Africa; Ossama Eldeeb, Senior Director, South EMEA Partners; Rasheed AlOmari, Business Solutions Strategy Director; Eric Marin, Senior Director, Solution Engineering, SEMEA; Tabrez Surve, Director NSBU Metna & SSA, and Nadim Nakkash, Director - Channel - Middle East, North Africa, Turkey.

Sumit Dhawan took part in the event’s conference sessions at which he spoke about the need for organizations to take a smart approach to multi-cloud to enable them to reduce complexity and gain the full benefits of the cloud while abiding by sovereign data regulations in the countries in which they are operating.

During media engagements, Sumit also spoke about VMware’s growing customer base in the region across different sectors such as healthcare and telecom providers. He expressed optimism that Saudi Vision 2030 will drive more investments in the tech sector and said that customers in the region are excited about the potential of new technologies. He also said that organizations in Saudi Arabia were receptive to VMware’s message about avoiding cloud chaos through a cloud smart approach.

Saif Mashat, VMware’s managing director for Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman & Yemen, said: “Our participation in the second edition of LEAP was hugely successful, giving us the opportunity to engage with customers, partners and new prospects, and raise awareness of the need for a smart approach to multi-cloud. This is especially important in Saudi Arabia where organizations see huge growth potential and are keen to support the country’s digitization in line with the aims of Saudi Vision 2030.”
