VMware Named 2009 CRN Channel Champion and Winner of Awards for Support, Financial and Technical Categories

Honored as the Top Vendor in the Server/Application Virtualization Category

PALO ALTO, Calif., March 24, 2009 – VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization solutions from the desktop to the datacenter, today announced that the company was named a 2009 CRN Channel Champion at the XChange Solution Provider conference in New Orleans. VMware won the overall category of Server/Application Virtualization as well as the three subcategories of Support Criteria Winner, Financial Criteria Winner and Technical Criteria Winner during an awards ceremony at the conference on March 10. The CRN Channel Champions study measures overall solution provider perceptions of vendor products and services and is considered a premier resource used by VARs and technology integrators throughout the industry to evaluate vendors and their programs.

“We are honored that partners have recognized VMware as the top vendor across all virtualization categories,” said Ben Matheson, senior director of global partner marketing, VMware. “We are committed to delivering the high-quality products, support and programs necessary to ensure that VMware remains a trusted virtualization vendor to the channel.”

"Solution providers have come to rely on the CRN Channel Champions study as a way to evaluate the leading technology vendors in the channel today,” said Robert C. DeMarzo, senior vice president and editorial director, Everything Channel. “We congratulate the winners for delivering high-quality solutions that satisfy business partners."

The CRN Channel Champions survey was conducted between January 2009 and February 2009 and rated more than 100 vendors in 24 key product and service categories. Solution providers were chosen at random from CRN’s subscriber list and were pre-qualified to ensure that they worked in the category, were familiar with the products and had a significant, strategic relationship with the vendor(s) being rated. Vendors rated in each category were chosen on the basis of market share data provided by major research firms.
