Allegheny Digital uses Carbon Black to rapidly detect and respond to attacks
and accelerate remediation efforts for its customers
PITTSBURGH, Pa.—September 22, 2014—Allegheny Digital today announced it has joined the “Bit9 + Carbon Black Connect” Alliance Program as an incident response partner. Bit9® + Carbon Black® is the leader in endpoint threat prevention, detection and response.
As a “Connect” IR partner, Allegheny Digital uses Carbon Black to help its customers remediate cyber attacks and breaches. As the Allegheny Digital team identifies malicious files used to execute an attack, Allegheny Digital uses Carbon Black to pinpoint each endpoint and server on which malware has landed and reveal the entire “kill chain” of the attack, so responders can quickly see where and how the attack started. This enhanced visibility enables Allegheny Digital to move rapidly to contain attacks and accelerate remediation efforts.
“Effective incident response requires two things: highly skilled and experienced staff and the use of forward thinking technologies capable of detecting and enhancing our team’s ability to respond to today’s dynamic threats,” said Greg Porter, founder and principal information security consultant of Allegheny Digital. “The addition of Carbon Black will enable us to serve our customers by quickly and measurably detecting the source of a potential security breach, enabling us to effectively identify and remediate the problem so our customers can get back to business as quickly as possible.”
Allegheny Digital’s consultants are senior information security specialists with extensive industry knowledge, including diverse experience with “Big 4” accounting firms, the United States Armed Forces, and numerous private and public sector organizations. The team includes professionals with security and operations experience ranging from the Fortune 500 to middle-tier businesses, providing them with a precise understanding of effective security management—one that is based on practical advice and a coordinated approach to information protection.
“Incident response is about actively preparing for a breach by detecting, responding to and remediating threats as they happen. It’s no longer a reactive process,” said Tom Barsi, vice president of business development for Bit9 + Carbon Black. “The expertise of Allegheny Digital specialists combined with Carbon Black’s innovative ability to detect and respond to threats in real time will provide organizations with a unique defense against cyber attacks.”
