Cloud Service Providers Join SunGard Availability Services to Provide New Backup Services
VMware vSphere Data Protection 5.5 Advanced Now Generally Available
PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 19, 2013 —VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, announced today that iomartcloud, part of European cloud company, iomart Group plc, and Paragon Development Systems (PDS), both members of the VMware Service Provider Program, will provide backup to the cloud services based on VMware vSphere Data Protection™ and VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced. The companies join previously announced SunGard Availability Services in a growing ecosystem of service providers that will offer backup to the cloud services for VMware vSphere®.

Growing Partner Ecosystem to Offer Backup to Cloud Services
Powered by EMC Avamar, VMware vSphere Data Protection 5.5 and VMware vSphere Data Protection 5.5 Advanced feature industry-leading storage-efficiency for backups, unique capabilities to accelerate recovery, and unparalleled integration with VMware vSphere. The new backup replication feature in VMware vSphere Data Protection 5.5 Advanced works out-of-the-box to copy backups of data into the cloud through network-efficient, encrypted replication, without requiring add-on licensing or additional infrastructure components like WAN accelerators. Service providers can now build out these new backup to the cloud offerings with the general availability of VMware vSphere Data Protection 5.5 Advanced.

Pricing and Availability
VMware vSphere Data Protection 5.5 Advanced is now generally available and is priced at $1,095 per processor with no restrictions on number of protected VMs per license.
