VMware Strengthens End-User Computing Business With Enterprise Industry Veterans

PALO ALTO, Calif., January 6, 2014 –VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, today announced the addition of three enterprise industry veterans to the End-User Computing leadership team. Bob Schultz has been appointed chief strategy lead, and will assist with the overall business, product and alliance strategy for the group. Sumit Dhawan has been appointed head of the desktop business, and will lead product development, product management, strategy and delivery for enterprise and personal desktop products. Longtime VMware veteran Kit Colbert has been appointed chief technology officer (CTO) of End-User Computing, and will help drive product and technology strategy for its product portfolio.

New Additions to the Team 
Bob Schultz is a technology veteran with more than 30 years of experience in charge of strategic business operations for leading Silicon Valley companies. Most recently, Bob served as group vice president and general manager of desktop and applications for Citrix, where he was responsible for the re-design of their desktop product for mobile and cloud services, and energized alliances with strategic partners to simplify and increase the value of combined solutions. Before Citrix, Bob served as vice president and chief of staff for the Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking (ESSN) group at Hewlett Packard, as well as senior vice president and general manager of the Enterprise Servers and Storage (ESS) group. Prior to that, he served as chief operating officer (COO) at Adaptec.

Sumit Dhawan is a senior business leader with 18 years of experience and a proven track record of establishing market leadership for enterprise products. He held various leadership positions at Citrix for nearly 16 years and most recently served as group vice president and general manager for the Enterprise Mobility Group at Citrix, where he was in charge of strategic product positioning, technology integration and go-to-market strategies.

Kit Colbert is a VMware veteran, having been with the company for more than 10 years, leading high impact and high visibility product development programs for multiple product lines. Most recently, he served as chief architect for VMware Horizon Workspace™ where he led the technical product development and product strategy for the solution. Prior to this, he served as chief architect for VMware vCenter™ Operations Management Suite™, and technical lead and creator of VMware vSphere® Storage vMotion®.
