VMware Cloud Verified partner list grows to 27 globally, expanding the range of services available to customers
VMware debuts new VMware Validated Designs for cloud providers, announces general availability of new Cloud Provider Platform solutions
BARCELONA, Spain, Nov. 06, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today at VMworld 2018 Europe, VMware, Inc. (NYSE:VMW) highlighted momentum of the VMware Cloud Provider Program across Europe, and the growth in VMware Cloud Verified partners globally. With the goal of giving customers the greatest flexibility in public cloud providers to support their application and business requirements, VMware is empowering European-based partners such OVH, Telefonica and Tieto to deliver new and differentiated services all built on the world’s most powerful, most widely deployed cloud infrastructure. VMware announced the following surrounding the VMware Cloud Provider Program:
- Continued growth in VMware Cloud Verified partners, with 27 partners including more than a dozen partners across Europe now holding the VMware Cloud Verified designation, up from only five a year ago. VMware Cloud Verified partners have fully deployed VMware Cloud infrastructure and enable customers the performance and scale to support their application requirements.
- New VMware Validated Designs (VVDs) for Cloud Providers are now available, enabling partners to deploy and operate VMware cloud infrastructure for a wide range of use cases and provide a fast, proven path to achieving VMware Cloud Verified status.
- Previously announced solutions across the Cloud Provider Platform are now generally available, including VMware Cloud Provider Pod, VMware vCloud Director 9.5, VMware vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR, and VMware vCloud Usage Insight Service.
Through the VMware Cloud Provider Platform, VMware helps partners deliver a modern VMware-based software-defined data center that is purpose-built for partners and enables them to expand their multi-cloud managed services portfolio by integrating additional VMware cloud offerings. The new VMware Cloud Provider Pod enables partners to stand up a VMware-based software-defined, multitenant datacenter based on a partner’s cloud design, in just a few clicks, and provides an accelerated path to VMware Cloud Verified designation. The VMware Cloud Provider Hub will enable partners to expand their multi-cloud managed services offerings to include VMware Cloud on AWS and other VMware multi-cloud operations services. As a result, partners can meet their critical business imperatives: drive operational efficiency with automation, quickly monetize new services, and compete more effectively.
“The VMware Cloud Provider program continues to be strong across Europe, with more than half of our VMware Cloud Verified partners coming from this region. VMware Cloud Verified partners are a set of strategic partners offering complete VMware software-defined data center as a service with value-added services and support.” said Ajay Patel, senior vice president and general manager, cloud provider software business unit, VMware. “As European businesses expand within the region, and even across the globe, VMware Cloud Provider Program partners such as OVH, Rackspace, Telefonica and Tieto, offer customers modern VMware-based cloud solutions with consistent infrastructure and operations, and a portfolio of managed multi-cloud infrastructure and operations services.”
“451 Research’s Voice of the Service Provider survey reveals that nearly 100% of service providers in the EMEA region are members of software vendors’ partner programs, driven primarily by the need for training resources and sales support” said Al Sadowski, Research Vice President, 451 Research. “Partner programs, such as the VMware Cloud Provider Program, focused on customer success have emerged as a key factor in service providers’ vendor selection process.”
Cloud Providers Distinguish Themselves with VMware-Based Cloud Services
The VMware Cloud Provider Program gives customers the flexibility to choose their ideal cloud provider based on their business and IT needs. Customers can choose from a broad range of service providers, each offering unique services and possessing specific areas of expertise, while building their cloud services on the more secure and reliable VMware Cloud infrastructure. This combination of consistent infrastructure and operations, with access to innovation, gives customers the ability to match the needs of their applications to the best cloud provider with the assurance that any application will run more securely and reliably in the cloud. The VMware Cloud Provider Program is a key pillar to the VMware Cloud strategy, representing more than 4,200 partners in more than 120 countries that are delivering services using VMware cloud infrastructure technologies. OVH, Rackspace, Telefonica, and Tieto, are just a few of the partners across the globe that leverage the value of VMware’s consistent cloud infrastructure and operations, and growing portfolio of multi-cloud services, to help customers grow and prosper.
OVH
OVH, based in Roubaix, France, is Europe’s largest cloud provider, with a global network consisting of 28 data centers, 34 points of presence, and thousands of miles of dark fiber. OVH specializes in delivering industry-leading performance and cost-effective solutions to manage, better secure and scale businesses. As one of the very first VMware Cloud Verified partners, OVH has been an early adopter in leveraging new VMware Cloud innovations such as VMware Cloud Foundation to deliver a fully integrated and turnkey hosted VMware software-defined data center service and VMware Hybrid Cloud Extension for large-scale cloud migration services. Recently, OVH outlined a strategic called eEnterprise, an alternative cloud built on the VMware Cloud Provider Platform to power successful digital transformation.
“OVH and VMware have partnered for a decade to help customers across Europe, and most recently in North America, successfully achieve their digital transformation and Cloud migration,” said Alain Fiocco, EVP Chief Technology Officer, OVH. “We believe the industry needs an alternative cloud to help customers power digital transformation. OVH is that alternative cloud. We are delighted to continue our partnership with VMware to further address emerging needs and continue to provide innovation to a rapidly evolving industry. OVH has been leveraging the latest VMware innovations such as vSAN to deliver state of the art high-performance converged storage and Hybrid Cloud Extension that enables customers to migrate to the Cloud without any interruption.”
Rackspace
One of the inaugural VMware Cloud Verified partners, and a more than decade long VMware Cloud Provider Program partner, Rackspace helps VMware customers tap the power of the cloud without the pain, complexity and expense of managing it themselves. Rackspace helps businesses maximize investments in VMware software by helping build, operate and optimize their physical infrastructure, freeing IT resources from day-to-day infrastructure management so they can focus on their core business. Rackspace has announced a new Rackspace Managed VMware Cloud on AWS service offering and collaboratively developed a Center of Excellence that draws from Rackspace’s deep experience with VMware and AWS and is dedicated to developing new strategies for customers consuming native AWS services from VMware workloads.
“Rackspace is focused on providing modern IT as a service for its customers, and continues to transform IT delivery by offering unbiased, multi-cloud expertise, an unrivaled portfolio of cloud services, and familiar automation and management tools,” said Peter FitzGibbon, vice president and general manager of Rackspace managed services for VMware. “With Rackspace’s Managed VMware Cloud on AWS, we’ve expanded our private cloud portfolio to give customers greater flexibility to run VMware workloads where it makes the most sense – in their own data center, hosted in a geo-specific location, or now, in the AWS cloud. We go beyond that of a typical service provider by applying our expertise and services across VMware and AWS to be the single provider to help simplify, accelerate and optimize customers’ transformation to hybrid-cloud.”
Telefonica
Telefonica is one of the world’s largest telecommunication network operators by market capitalization and number of customers, helping enterprises across Spain and Latin America leverage the company’s cloud services and global network to meet their needs for secure, scalable cloud services. Telefonica’s VDC service is based on the VMware Cloud Provider Platform and enables customers to create virtual infrastructure combining computer resources, storage, advanced networking (Software defined LAN, Internet connectivity, MPLS Virtual Private Networks and Software defined WAN), and value-added services (Backup, Disaster Recovery, Security and packaged enterprise applications).
“Telefonica and VMware are very strongly aligned at both the technical and strategic business levels,” said José María Cuéllar, Head of Global B2B Cloud of Telefonica. “We work with the VMware team extensively to help define and bring to market new services to meet the digital transformation requirements of our mutual customers. With VMware providing cloud technologies for our VDC offering, we can help customers plan a strategic move to the cloud with minimal risks by preserving current investments, maintaining the same quality and tight requirements of an enterprise IT environment. This approach also allows us to deliver a consistent user experience both across our federated VDC nodes in EU, USA and LATAM as well as on hybrid environments between customer premises and our VDC nodes.”
Tieto
Tieto, one of the largest and fastest growing VMware Cloud Verified Partners in EMEA, serves more than 800 customers with 15,000 experts in close to 20 countries. VMware is a part of Tieto OneCloud that delivers the highest standards in scalability, automation, manageability, resilience and security within the data center and hybrid cloud services. TietoOneCloud leverages the full VMware SDDC stack to provide customers consistent infrastructure that spans on-premises and cloud environments. Tieto is currently testing VMware Cloud Provider Pod to help accelerate delivering of the most modern VMware-based SDDC for customers and is building out a managed service offering around VMware Cloud on AWS.
“Tieto is partnering with VMware to help customers digitize their businesses, providing them with always on, globally available cloud infrastructure and services,” said Markus Suomi, Chief Technology Officer at Tieto. “As a VMware Cloud Verified partner, Tieto helps customers modernize and optimize their data centers and business operations with a flexible, innovative and cost-effective digital foundation built on the full complement of VMware Cloud solutions. Through VMware’s ability to provide consistent infrastructure across on-premises and Tieto OneCloud, we can help customers improve the speed at which they move, optimize operations, and free up resources for innovation and growth.”
