VMware Shares Vision for Intelligent Analytics from VMware AirWatch

VMware is Building AirWatch Into an Intelligent Platform That Will Deliver Smart Recommendations for IT and Businesses

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - October 05, 2016) - Today at Connect 2016, VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), a global leader in cloud infrastructure and business mobility, showcased its progress and continued vision to develop VMware AirWatch® Enterprise Mobility Management™ (EMM) into an analytics platform that delivers IT and business units intelligent insights derived from deployments. VMware will demonstrate how the platform could anonymously gather information and provide insights, recommendations and automated actions to improve an organization's mobility deployment, compliance and security. Additionally, VMware will showcase on stage at Connect a tech preview of new, dynamic custom reporting engine within VMware AirWatch, one of the first steps in delivering this analytics platform to customers.

"The technology industry is increasingly turning to analytics to improve and automate processes, and VMware AirWatch can evolve to provide this high level of data intelligence for IT and businesses," said Noah Wasmer, senior vice president, mobile products, End-User Computing, VMware. "We want to bring our customers predictive and insightful information that enriches and transforms how employees work everyday. The goal of this solution is to allow IT to focus more on enabling mobile business strategies and less on the minutia of operational tasks. Intelligent analytics from VMware AirWatch is the very next step in the digital transformation of how we work for both IT and employees."

As businesses mobility programs mature and organization- or industry-specific data is available, it is paramount to deliver actionable insights on best practices, efficiencies and areas for improvement. VMware AirWatch is a unique solution that not only provides information about organizational or industry data and patterns, but the software can also take action based on these derived analytics.

VMware plans to use machine learning to implement predictive analytics and provide advanced artificial intelligence that will help organizations across industries make intelligent decisions. For example, an organization can optimize app licenses by analyzing employee usage history for an enterprise app. The company could apply "if this, then that" (ITTT) policies and notify a user or revoke and reassign the license if the apps is not being utilized. In another example, a warehouse could capture what rugged devices or apps are using the most battery and be more efficient with battery replacement programs. Nearly every industry and vertical could imagine situations in which these analytics could improve business operations. VMware will also open APIs to these functionalities to extend analytics beyond the AirWatch system, enabling customers to take advantage of a developed ecosystem.

On stage at Connect, VMware will demonstrate a tech preview of a new, dynamic custom reporting engine within VMware AirWatch, a key first step to delivering on this vision. The AirWatch intelligence engine will allow organizations to subscribe to specific data elements and analyze the trend changes of those items across the environment. The reports will be able to be created from scratch or can follow several templated guides within each category. Reports could be customized with dozens of columns and filters to create a truly unique and customized report specific to the organization. Once the custom report query is created, these reports could be edited at any time and run on demand or on schedule. In addition, VMware will update the existing reporting functions within AirWatch to provide more options and a better user experience.

VMware is committed safeguarding both IT and users from potential end user privacy violations. These intelligent analytics would adhere to the VMware Privacy First initiative and will rely only on anonymized information and fully protect personal information.
