VMware Announces Cutting-Edge Innovations to Accelerate Indonesia’s Journey to Become World’s Top 10 Economy

New innovations will catalyze enterprise transformation across networking, modern applications and digital workspace

Jakarta, Indonesia – October 15, 2019 – VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), a leading innovator in enterprise software, today announced new and expanded offerings across cloud, modern applications and digital workspaces, laying the foundation for organizations in Indonesia to grow alongside the economic ascendancy. VMware’s new innovations will enable organizations to build, run and manage workloads on a consistent infrastructure across clouds, data centers, and edge locations; transform the way software is built, run and managed on Kubernetes; while deepening employee engagement to unleash productivity – key capabilities that enable them to unearth growth opportunities from the rapid expansion of Indonesia’s economy.

With the introduction of the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap, the Indonesian government has signaled its intent to strengthen the country’s digital capabilities across key industry sectors to capitalize on growing opportunities around the Fourth Industrial Revolution(1). Couplaed with its flourishing internet economy with a growth rate of 49% every year since 2015 (2), Indonesia’s economy has been put on a strong growth trajectory, and is predicted to cross the $130 billion mark by 2025  to realize its aspiration of becoming the world’s top ten economy by 2030 (3).

Enterprises in Indonesia have also shown great enthusiasm in investment of 5G and other IT infrastructure, following the country’s first 5G testing in the 2018 Asian Games (4). Against the backdrop of Indonesia’s continued economic success and the government’s future-forward vision, VMware’s enhanced portfolio can help accelerate the country’s transformation towards the journey of becoming a high-performing global economic powerhouse.

“Indonesia’s stellar economic performance in the past years and its growing focus on fostering innovations for the future present tremendous opportunities for organizations hungry for growth. With the country’s pivot towards Industry 4.0 and 5G, digital transformation will become an important enabler, now with technology as a key area underpinning the growth of Indonesia’s economy,” said Cin Cin Go, Country Manager, VMware Indonesia. “With VMware’s expanded portfolio, organizations will have access to cutting edge innovations that will help transform the way they build, run, manage and protect their business across cloud, modern applications and the digital workspace with powerful new capabilities that will help drive their growth alongside Indonesia’s flourishing economy.”

VMware’s new innovations will simplify and protect the way organizations manage systems and applications, build modern applications, manage and measure the value delivered to employees. New advancements include:

• Consistent hybrid cloud operations and infrastructure across data center, cloud and edge:

o VMware vRealize Operations 8.0 – optimized for the new world of hybrid cloud operations. It will deliver new and enhanced capabilities for self-driving hybrid cloud and hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) operations as well as multi-cloud monitoring. The latest release will deliver Intent-Driven continuous performance optimization, more efficient capacity management, intelligent remediation and integrated compliance and configuration.

o VMware Cloud Foundation – enables a hybrid cloud platform that spans all major public clouds – AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud – and more than 60 VMware Cloud Verified partners worldwide.

• Run Modern Apps Leveraging Kubernetes:

o VMware Tanzu – new portfolio of products and services to help enterprises build modern applications, run Kubernetes with consistency across environments, and manage all their Kubernetes clusters from a single control point. This includes a technology preview of Project Pacific—focused on transforming VMware vSphere into a Kubernetes native platform in a future release; and VMware Tanzu Mission Control—a single point of control from which customers will manage all their Kubernetes clusters regardless of where they run.

• Industry-first concierge services to enhance employee experiences from hire to retire:

o Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub – the central launchpad for employees to more securely access apps, workflows and notifications and connect with colleagues – now enables a virtual assistant, powered by IBM Watson Assistant, that users can interact with using natural language processing (NLP) or text. Workspace ONE is the first digital workspace platform to enable an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered virtual assistant.

• Automated, Scalable Software-Defined Networking & Security:

o VMware NSX-T – the industry’s only network and security platform, delivered completely in software, offering the full range of L2-L7 services for workloads running on all types of infrastructure – virtual machines, containers, physical servers and both private and public clouds. The enhanced solution further strengthens the platform’s intrinsic security capabilities and delivers expanded scalability, cloud-native support, and operational simplicity.

The rollout of Indonesia’s Industrial Revolution 4.0 road map and its ICT initiatives, coupled with VMware solutions, will unlock possibilities for enterprises to digitally transform their operations, improve productivity, and adopt new business models to hone their competitive edge in today’s digital economy.
