TM Strengthens Its Partnership With VMware to Bring a New Era of Cloud Solutions and 5G to Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - March 12, 2020 - Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), Malaysia’s national telecommuncations infrastructure provider, in partnership with VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), a leading innovator in enterprise software, today announced the launch of tGRID project, an initiative to transform the existing Cloud Platform to TM ONE Cloud Solutions through expansion of services to cater for end-to-end cloud platform that enables next-generation innovation for Malaysian enterprises. The project, which will see the offering of the new, enhanced TM ONE Cloud services to its business customers, will also feature VMware’s industry-leading solution that allows TM to connect both its Standalone (SA) and Non-standalone (NSA) 5G networks on a single cloud platform, ensuring a seamless and reliable 5G experience for enterprises and consumers.

 

The partnership was signed by Sivan Umapathy, Chief Information Officer, TM while VMware was represented by Devan Parinpanayagam, Country Manager, VMware Malaysia. Also present at the event was Ahmad Taufek Omar, Chief Executive Officer / Executive Vice President, TM ONE.

 With 5G adoption set to add RM12.7 billion to Malaysia economy between 2021 and 2025 while creating 39,000 new job opportunities[1], enterprises in Malaysia are investing heavily into next-generation technologies that will allow them to capture the growth opportunities from the country’s fast-expanding digital economy. Malaysian telcos have also completed several rounds of live trials[2] ahead of the official commercialisation of 5G in the third quarter of 2020 and

businesses are doubling down on their digital transformation efforts as they pivot towards growth in the era of 5G.

 

 TM ONE Cloud new services will offer Malaysian enterprises an easy-to-deploy, cost-effective and secure solution as they embark on their cloud and 5G journeys. The cloud platform, which runs on VMware’s proven technology, aims to simplify the complexity of cloud adoption while offering built-in world-class service level

agreements (SLAs) that are tailored to customers’ needs. Under the tGRID project initiative, the Company has also implemented the most advanced security

practices and technologies for its certified data centres to ensure highest level of data security. The tGRID’s common infrastructure with TM’s existing cloud

platform will also facilitate the seamless integration of 5G into existing network infrastructure.
