VMware’s VMinclusion Taara Focuses on Upskilling Women on Career Breaks to Restart Their Careers

~3000+ women already registered for the free VMware certification courses in digital transformation technologies such as Cloud, Network and Security and Datacentre technologies

~The program aims to help bring back 15,000 women back to work in the IT industry in two years

India, July 2019 – VMinclusion Taara, one of India’s largest up-skilling programs, aims to help women engineers restart their careers after a break. A VMware initiative, the program trains women in latest digital transformation technologies which include Cloud Management & Automation, Datacenter Virtualization, Networking and Digital Workplaces. The program announced in October 2018 has seen more than 3,100 women enrolled themselves so far. Any female citizen of India who has taken a career break of 6 months or more is eligible to apply for this program.

The program was designed in association with Women Who Code - an international non-profit organisation, dedicated to inspiring women to excel in technology careers.  It aims to reskill and help bring back to work 15000 Indian women in the next two years. Leading organizations like Bharti Airtel, Cognizant and Dell have already pledged their support for this initiative.  The course can be done online and the program allows for self-paced learning making it flexible and convenient for women striving to return to work. Women with experience in Information Technology – which includes and is not limited to the fields of product development, engineering and testing, IT development, engineering and testing, technical support, and more – are eligible for this program.

“VMinclusion Taara is a stepping-stone for women who were compelled to interrupt their careers to focus on other priorities, be it raising a family or other personal issues. India has the highest rate of stem graduates as compared to anywhere in the world and yet the number of women dropping out of work and most often never returning back is staggering. When we studied this phenomenon of talented experienced women dropping out of the workforce, we realized that a large number of them want to return to work, but find their skills outdated thanks to the rapid evolution of new technology. VMinclusion Taara was created to address this challenge.  The program intends to empower women with the skills and confidence they need to make their way back into the workforce. The fact that the program has had such a great response in India, reinforces our belief about how most women on career breaks are just looking for the right opportunity to rejoin work. VMinclusion Taara is our way of helping them reach for the stars once again.” said Duncan Hewett, Senior Vice President & GM, APJ, VMware

Candidates registered with VMinclusion Taara can expect to learn cutting-edge cloud technologies like networking, virtualization, data centre, storage and security. These are the key emerging technologies that are shaping every aspect of business today, so the program is designed to take the women through increasingly advanced levels of training that cover these topics. The course consists of three levels and equips women with foundation-level training on digital business transformation as well as professional-level courses on virtualization software for hybrid- and multi-cloud platforms and infrastructure. The advanced online course will cover topics like network virtualization, data centre virtualization, cloud management and automation and digital workspace technologies.
