Fujitsu Siemens Computers and VMware Team Up to Deliver Cost-Efficient Virtualized IT Infrastructure for SAP Applications
FlexFrame for SAP is the First IT Solution Pre-Integrated with VMware Infrastructure to Guarantee High Quality of Service for SAP Applications in Mixed Physical and Virtual Environments
CANNES, France, February 24, 2009 — Today at VMworld Europe 2009, Fujitsu Siemens Computers and VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), today announced a joint solution that guarantees high quality of service for SAP applications. Developed by Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the new version of FlexFrame for SAP pre-integrates VMware Infrastructure, physical and virtual datacenter infrastructure, virtualized network and storage components, and comprehensive services, all contained within a single, complete, and cost-efficient IT solution. FlexFrame for SAP with pre-integrated VMware Infrastructure is available immediately.
The benefits of a pre-integrated solution such as FlexFrame for SAP include easy and fast implementation, high quality of service, and increased infrastructure efficiency. By dynamically assigning physical or virtualized servers to SAP applications on demand, FlexFrame for SAP ensures that compute resources are optimally allocated to maximize quality of service and ensure a best user experience at the lowest possible infrastructure cost. The solution increases application uptime by automatically restarting applications on any available system – virtual or physical – in case of hardware failure, and it monitors all the SAP application components and triggers automated recovery actions should an application fail.
The full unification of VMware Infrastructure, the industry-leading datacenter virtualization and management suite, within the pre-integrated and pre-tested solution was developed jointly by Fujitsu Siemens Computers and VMware. The result is the first service-oriented infrastructure solution for mixed physical and virtual server environments to have passed SAP’s Adaptive Computing Compliance Test. Seamless integration includes full virtual-to-physical and physical-to-virtual migrations without requiring any changes to the application or operating system images.
Says Dieter Herzog, Executive Vice President, Technology Solutions Portfolio at Fujitsu Siemens Computers: “The addition of full virtualization support is the latest chapter in the FlexFrame for SAP success story. Since its introduction, the solution has gone from strong to stronger, and this is reflected by more than 200 installations in the market today. With support for VMware Infrastructure, we now help SAP customers reach the next levels of server and storage consolidation.”
Bryan Byun, vice president of global alliances at VMware, says: “VMware Infrastructure combines outstanding performance and reliability with built-in application vServices such as VMware High Availability and VMotionTM, while keeping infrastructure costs low. This is why, according to our customer surveys, 94 percent of VMware customers who deploy VMware Infrastructure use it in production. SAP solutions are mission-critical for our customers, so we are pleased to team up with Fujitsu Siemens Computers to deliver a resilient, highly available and easily managed all-in-one IT solution that makes virtualizing SAP solutions even easier and provides an ideal platform for customers.”
