VMware Cloud Foundation underpins a resilient private cloud platform supporting next-generation telecom services at scale

PARIS — SFR, the second largest French telecommunications operator, is renewing its partnership with Broadcom to support the stable, always-on digital infrastructure required to deliver next-generation connectivity services, enterprise solutions, and customer experiences at scale.

SFR operates nationwide mobile and fixed networks for 25 million consumers and businesses across France. With increasing demand for high-performance connectivity, data sovereignty, and digital services, alongside the need to modernise legacy systems, the company requires an infrastructure platform designed for scalability, consistency, and operational control.

As part of this renewed multi-year agreement, SFR is continuing to invest in Broadcom’s VMware Cloud Foundation as a modern private cloud platform. VMware Cloud Foundation will further enable SFR to accelerate innovation, streamline resource management, and increase the operational efficiency of their IT organization. The platform underpins core IT and network environments, supporting thousands of key workloads, while enabling SFR to run applications in a consistent, unified and more secure environment across its infrastructure.

“Renewing our strategic partnership with Broadcom reflects our strong confidence in the VMware Cloud Foundation platform and its ability to support our transformation,” said Pascale Montrocher, CIO, and Olivier Tailfer, Network Executive Director at SFR. “It provides us with a consistent and reliable foundation across our infrastructure, enabling us to operate more efficiently while continuing to evolve our services to meet growing customer demand.”

For SFR’s technology teams, the primary benefits are infrastructure consistency, operational efficiency, and confidence in the platform. A unified private cloud environment enables a standardised cloud operating model across systems, abstracted from underlying hardware, reducing complexity and supporting more efficient service delivery. Integrated management capabilities provide visibility across the environment, helping teams maintain performance, security, and reliability.

This reliability is critical in a telecommunications environment where service availability and performance are essential. Any disruption can directly impact customers and businesses, making infrastructure stability a key priority.

“Service providers such as SFR require a cloud platform they can trust to deliver consistent performance at scale,” says Luigi Freguia, President, EMEA Sales, Broadcom. “VMware Cloud Foundation provides that trusted foundation, enabling operators to modernise their infrastructure with confidence while supporting the delivery of next-generation digital services.”

As telecommunications providers across Europe respond to growing demand for digital services and increasing operational complexity, SFR’s approach highlights how a modern private cloud platform can support scalable, resilient operations while maintaining control over data and infrastructure.
