Innovators

Innovators are visionary customers who embrace VMware solutions to maximize benefits across organizations.

United States Senate Federal Credit Union (USSFCU), AI Innovator

USSFCU has taken a bold approach to modernizing its IT infrastructure, focusing on efficiency, security and AI-driven innovation. With VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) already in place, USSFCU implemented VMware Private AI Foundation with NVIDIA in under 48 hours, enabling employees to make immediate improvements to member experiences without compromising data security.

Since the implementation, the USSFCU technology team has jumped into numerous development projects, including an internal chatbot, for internal and external users, which serves as a revenue generating tool for the business. This AI tool has become a strategic initiative that empowers the organization to deliver improved service, better employee and member experiences and fuel the organization’s drive for continuous innovation. Today, more than half of the credit union’s employees are using the AI tool to assist with their work, without worrying about privacy concerns associated with alternative AI tools and public cloud environments.

Audi, Cloud Innovator

The Audi Edge Cloud 4 Production (EC4P) initiative, built on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), delivers smart manufacturing by bringing software-defined factory automation to the shop floor, bridging the gap between IT and operational technology (OT). As part of this initiative, the VCF private cloud platform helps Audi centralize management and maintenance of dedicated industrial PC devices, simplify security patching and risk management, and reduce environmental impact with less hardware and fewer manual operations.

Audi deployed VCF to create a private cloud environment in support of the Boellinger Hoefe plant in Germany—the manufacturing location of the electric Audi e-tron GT car—where critical shop workloads are hosted and managed centrally. With its private cloud, Audi aims high for infrastructure standardization for all applications on the shop floor, faster updates and deployments, and better agility and scalability.

DATEV eG, Apps Innovator

Tax consultants, auditors and lawyers in Germany rely on DATEV software and services to support millions of small and medium-sized businesses. With the aim of speeding up processes, DATEV eG wanted to modernize its application development and deployment pipeline while scaling in a secure private cloud. Due to the sensitive nature of the data the company handles, DATEV attaches great importance to data protection and IT security, which includes operating its own data centers and cloud environment. The company has adopted a "you build it, you run it" DevOps approach, relying heavily on the VMware Tanzu Spring framework with tight runtime integrations on VMware Tanzu Platform.

Using both Tanzu Platform and Tanzu Spring, the company develops and deploys new tax, finance and business administration applications and features in days. Automated operations enable quick patching of both applications and the platform itself for 18,000 containers running on environments in Tanzu Platform. Application platforms hosting those containers were patched four times in one week, something not possible before. DATEV now innovates faster, going from idea to application in production within a few business days, achieving outstanding performance.

State Bank of India, Networking Innovator

With the vision to be a banker for every Indian, State Bank of India (SBI) is the largest bank in India, serving over 500 million customers through its vast network of over 22,500 branches and 63,580 ATMs. SBI has adopted a private cloud environment called “Meghdoot” which is hosting more than 300 applications across 25,000 VMs based on VMware Cloud Foundation. With software-defined networking at its core, SBI has modernized both its data center and branch infrastructure to meet the performance and availability demands of critical banking operations.

By using VMware Avi Load Balancer, SBI has enhanced its digital infrastructure with agile, analytics-driven load balancing and intelligent traffic management. This enables consistent service availability and responsiveness, even during peak transaction loads, significantly improving the bank’s agility and reliability in handling high-volume digital operations. Looking ahead, SBI plans to further strengthen its cybersecurity posture using Avi’s built-in Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) as well as leveraging NSX SDN capabilities.

Dubai Airports, Security Innovator

To maintain uptime, reliability and operational efficiency, Dubai Airports—operator of Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central—Al Maktoum International (DWC)—relies on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) as the bedrock of its private cloud, with VMware vDefend providing integrated, advanced security. With the ever-increasing volume of cyberattacks and evolution of threats, ensuring security of Dubai Airports requires a proactive and vigilant approach.

Dubai Airports has adopted a Zero Trust security model, with VMware vDefend Firewall with Advanced Threat Prevention at its core for comprehensive protection across both types of network traffic. VCF and VMware vDefend unify and streamline operations across compute, storage and security at Dubai Airports, and the reliable, stable IT infrastructure is more than just a luxury—it’s a necessity. Enabling its IT infrastructure supports critical systems and services without compromising on security or efficiency is vital.

Heroes

Hero organizations strive to improve our evolving, complex world by employing technology for the greater good.

National Information Resources Service (NIRS), Societal Impact Hero

NIRS is the world’s first government data center, serving critical information resources to more than 50 South Korean government organizations. It is also the key organization powering many public services that government employees and citizens consume, from mobile resident ID cards, messaging tools for government employees, public services, and ministries and local government web services.

The NIRS launched the Intelligent Cloud Project to unify its IT systems and address challenges of decentralized information resource systems, prolonged downtime and inefficient IT operations. VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) is the cornerstone of this project, with VCF Advanced Services enabled for real-time load balancing, scale-out capabilities, infrastructure automation and micro-firewalls. In the past, NIRS experienced frequent server faults which impacted citizens’ timely access to digital government services such as the natural disaster public texting service. With the new VCF private cloud platform, NIRS’ critical system failure time has decreased by 36%, ensuring uninterrupted and smooth service delivery even during peak hours.

Dubai Airports, Customer Experiences Hero
