Customers today are reassessing how they operate and scale their cloud environments. Many are seeking greater cost predictability, reduced operational complexity, and more control over workload placement. As private cloud strategies built on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) continue to gain momentum, customers are also evaluating how to align with providers that can deliver consistent operations, meet sovereignty requirements, and support long-term platform stability.

Against this backdrop, this is a defining period for the VMware Cloud Service Provider (VCSP) ecosystem, one that is focused on building a more economically viable ecosystem that is grounded in private cloud independence, deep services capability, and long-term customer value.

This evolution is deliberate and by design. It reflects a shift in how VMware private cloud services are delivered and consumed, and it is intended to create greater clarity, consistency, and resilience across the ecosystem - ultimately driving stronger customer outcomes and business impact for both VCSPs and the customers they serve.

While this transition is often viewed through the lens of partners, its implications extend far beyond the VCSP community.

Many VCSP customers rely on VMware services delivered through this ecosystem, and it is important they understand how the landscape is evolving, what it means for their organizations, and how to prepare - particularly customers whose VCSP partners have been recently affected by Broadcom’s Partner program reorganisation.

For these customers, there are a number of options available to them – from migrating workloads to, go-forward VCSPs that have the proven services capability, to transitioning to alternative providers within the Broadcom ecosystem,

Customers can also choose to consolidate workloads with fewer, more strategic providers, and accelerate their adoption of private cloud independence that offers greater control, consistency, and long-term stability.

Scaling Strong, Regionally Relevant Providers

Within this landscape, a key focus for Broadcom is working with VCSPs that demonstrate strong services capability, regional relevance, and capability to scale.

This includes supporting growth through migrations and strategic acquisitions, as well as reinforcing the importance of sovereign cloud providers in regions such as EMEA and APJ. For many customers, considerations such as data sovereignty and regulatory compliance are critical - and these requirements will only continue to grow in importance.

By strengthening regionally aligned VCSPs, we are ensuring that customers can access trusted, compliant, and high-performing cloud services wherever they operate.

Co-investing in Long-term Ecosystem Viability

Our goal is also to create an economically viable ecosystem that benefits both VCSPs and customers.

We are committed to co-investing in VCSPs that demonstrate a clear focus on services capability, customer value, and long-term growth. This includes through training, supporting workload migrations, and aligning on go-to-market execution.

A stronger, more focused ecosystem ultimately delivers greater resilience. It allows VCSPs to invest with confidence and ensures customers are supported by providers with the scale and expertise to meet their evolving needs.

We remain open to organizations that are committed to building differentiated VMware-based services and delivering meaningful customer outcomes. VCSPs that demonstrate strong technical capability, operational excellence, and a clear value proposition will continue to find opportunity within the ecosystem.

A Deliberate Shift to Quality Over Volume

Historically, the VCSP ecosystem has included a broad mix of organizations - from service providers to resellers to end customers - many of whom were not building differentiated VMware offerings as a core part of their business.

Our priority is to work with VCSPs that are truly committed to investing in services capability and delivering measurable customer outcomes. This includes those who are building expertise in private cloud environments, enabling workload mobility, and supporting customers through increasingly complex transformation journeys.

This is a shift that prioritizes depth, capability, and long-term value creation.

A New Era Built on Trust for VCSPs and Customers Alike

At the core is a renewed focus on trust - trust in the capabilities of our VCSP partners, and trust from the customers who depend on them. That trust must be earned through consistent delivery, technical excellence, and transparency.

For customers, this means greater confidence that their chosen VCSP has the skills, certifications, and operational maturity required to support mission-critical workloads. For VCSPs, it means a clearer framework for investment, growth, and differentiation.

As these changes progress, we recognize that not all customers are fully aware of how the VCSP ecosystem is evolving.

Over time, customers will increasingly be able to work with VCSPs that have the scale and expertise to support workload migration, private cloud strategies, and ongoing platform optimization using VCF 9.0. This includes capabilities across migration, modernization, and lifecycle management.

Our intention is not to introduce disruption, but to enable long-term stability. By aligning customers with highly capable VCSPs, we are creating an environment that supports predictable outcomes, stronger performance, and sustainable growth.

There is still time to prepare, but planning should begin now. Customers should be engaging with their providers to understand how these changes may impact their environments and what steps are needed to ensure continuity and success.

The direction is clear. The future of the VCSP ecosystem will be defined by depth of capability, strength of execution, and a shared commitment to value creation and customer success.

Looking Ahead

The next twelve months is an important window for both VCSPs and customers.

For VCSPs, it is an opportunity to invest, differentiate via value-added services, and align with the future direction of the ecosystem. For customers, it is a time to assess current environments, engage with providers, and plan for the next phase of their cloud journey.

By focusing on quality, co-investment, and customer outcomes, we are building an ecosystem that is not only more resilient, but also better equipped to deliver the private cloud platforms and services that organizations need to succeed.
