VMware to Unveil Virtual SMP at DEMO 2003

PALO ALTO, Calif. and SCOTTSDALE, February 17, 2003 -- VMware, Inc., the global leader in virtual machine software for industry-standard systems, today announced that it will unveil VMware Virtual SMP (symmetric multiprocessing) on-stage at DEMO 2003. DEMO 2003 is being held at The Westin Kierland in Scottsdale from February 16-18.

For 13 years, the DEMO conference has consistently selected and showcased the year's most promising, cutting-edge technology innovations, offering live, on-stage demos, product test drives and spirited discussions with the thought leaders who are shaping the technology industry. DEMO is widely regarded as the coming-out party for technology's best and brightest innovations.

VMware launched its first product, VMware Workstation, at DEMO 1999. VMware Workstation, powerful virtual machine software for the desktop, has since become the defacto standard for software developers, and the product has more than one million registered users worldwide.

"VMware has created and proven the market for virtual computing on industry-standard systems. They have done this through innovation and relentless delivery of value to their customers, from the desktop to now the data center," said Chris Shipley, executive producer of DEMO. "They debuted their original product at Demo 1999. We are excited to have them back, now as a thriving company with yet another significant innovation."

VMware is delivering on its vision of virtual computing for industry-standard systems with the introduction of Virtual SMP. The product enables a single virtual machine to span multiple processors -- making virtual machines ideal for all applications, even the most resource-intensive applications like Microsoft SQLServer databases, ERP applications and Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes.
